What have been the biggest moves in your life? What have been the effects of your leaving homes, jobs, and relationships? God's plan to redeem the world through Abram begins with a call from him to move from his homeland. God calls Abram to leave not only the bad parts of his past but the good parts as well: his country, his people, his family. Moving forward Abram is given a vague but powerful picture of what his life will be with God. This is enough for Abraham to trust and follow. Is this enough for you?

IQ: Where has God called you to go?

As humans, we are all builders by nature. As kids, we build legos and forts, and as we grow we continue to build our homes, careers, communities, churches, businesses and beyond. Genesis 11 presents a moment when humans built a tower to ‘reach the heavens’ and ‘make a great name for themselves’. In response, God interrupts their plans by scattering them and installing diverse languages in the nations. Have your plans ever been interrupted by God? In this passage, we reflect on the things we build and listen for what God may be calling us to build in light of the finished work of Jesus.

IQ: What is God building in and through you?

Noah’s family exit the ark in the same place as Adam and Eve have eaten the fruit. One of his sons repeats the sin cycle of their forefathers but two of the sons respond to temptation in a new way. Join us as we continue our study through Genesis.

IQ: How will you worship this Christmas?

Throughout the Bible, God uses covenant to define the relationship between man and Himself. Following the flood, God establishes a covenant with all people of all generations. What does God's covenant with Noah tell us about the heart of God?

IQ: Am I living aware of the mercy of time? 

Do you know someone who walks with God? Enoch and Noah were known to walk faithfully with God and find life. Continuing in our study of Genesis, the Flood and the Ark become a powerful portrait of the grace of God and the only path to life.

IQ: Do you know the grace of God?

The story of the flood is a tipping point moment of the curse. The violence, evil, and corruption in God's world have become so great that a flood is sent to revert the creation to the waters of the deep.

How will God rescue and redeem His good world gone bad? The story of Noah and the flood is written without dialogue and from Noah's point of view to invite us into his story. Like Enoch, Noah finds grace with God and walks with Him. Noah's faith in Genesis6-8 reveals to us God's rescue plan for humanity. How can we find grace in our time of need? How can we find salvation in the chaos-waters of life? 

IQ: How is Jesus saving you through the chaos-waters of life?

Genesis 1-5 tells the story of humanity living in the reality of life apart from God. For more than 1,000 years the families of Cain and Seth are unable to find a way back to the right relationship with their Creator. This week CITYLIGHTS paused its study of the fall to look into the Gospel's power to bring us into spiritual life and freedom. We were so thankful for our family members, Paul and Ashley, who vulnerably shared their testimony in this podcast. Their stories were a powerful remembrance of God's power to change our life. We hope you are encouraged by this reflection of Genesis 1-5 through testimony.
